Best performance meter/GPS device for times?

I know there are a few out there - that give you 0-60, quarter mile, and passing times, but what do you guys use or recommend?

The Vbox seems to be the best but it's a bit expensive for just occasional use, the Gtech SS seems a better idea - but what do you guys think? Any iPhone apps that actually work accurately to do the same thing? I figure for an hobby it's just fun to see the actual times of your car when you are on a safe piece of road and can do a 0-60, etc.

Gtech SS can't do 60-130 reliably and it doesn't even detect movement half the time if you try to do a quarter mile. Waste of money.

I had the same issue you did because the VBOX is overly expensive, but it's worth every penny. They hold their resale value incredibly well, so if you're ever in a pinch, you can likely sell it easily for very little loss.

+1 I tried just about every app, and even bought a 10hz bluetooth based external gps. Nothing compares to the vbox for accuracy at their price.

I will say that it is mostly the standing starts that were junk on any app, the rolling measurements were very accurate when using the 10hz Bluetooth GPS unit and tons of guys use them to do lap times on tracks.

The cheapest version is like $499 for the Vbox right? I wonder if I can find it used for cheaper.

Hey guys,

We are running a group buy thread over at M3Forum.

We are trying to get enough orders to qualify for the $440 price point. It'd be great if we can get an order from you too.
