Any attempted installing a BBK on their XI yet?

I talked to the guys at AP Racing for a little bit with regards to BBK setups on the XI. They think that the regular I setup should work for us.

I have not attempted anything yet coz my car is still in the shop. However, with my vacation coming up, I might plunge into some uncharted water and see if I'll come out alive.

I have not been able to perform any research on part numbers yet because bmwfans.info and realoem.com do not have any info on the 335xi. I'll see if I can elicit some help from our friendly parts department to pull up a list of brake parts for an I and XI so I can compare notes.

But rumors had that they are identical.

I am very interested to know what are my options on 335XI with 17" wheels (158 or 159 model).

Probably have to wait for a Stoptech rotors kit because the BBK requires at least 18" wheels to clear the caliper and rotors. The stock 189s barely clears the 355mm Brembo 6-piston BBK per hunter399.

I second that. I don't know of a BBK for any 335 (Xi or i) that will allow you to run 17" wheels.

are you certain that the 355mm, 6 pistons will not fit 17 inch wheels?
some people said a spacer might help... awaiting advices.

It's not the issue with spacers clearance, it's the size of the caliper and the rotors.

I've looked extensively into the 6-piston 355mm Brembos. They're not going to fit 17" rims. The dimension from the center of the wheel to the outer edge of the caliper is 210mm (8.26"). They won't clear my 18" Advan RS wheels (there is no spacer needed, the barrel dimension is what won't clear). The 4-piston 355mm system is 200mm (7.87").

Check with Stoptech. Their 6-piston 355mm brake system runs 199.5mm (7.85").

Measure your wheels and you'll know what fits.

AFAIK the BBK are not affected by the xi drive features, it is all about getting the BBK to fit a set of rims.

The massive kit that Dinan has will only fit a limited number of 18's. 17's will prob never fit. I've seen the kit, it is f'in huge.

Gotta go with 19" rims to fit the 355 mm BBK. A smaller kit like the Alcon or Stoptech would be a better fit for 18" rims on a 335.

BBKs should work with the non-XI and XI models without a problem. It's pretty much the matter of the wheel size and clearance. Contact me via PM or e-mail (James************.com). We've got the best deals on all Brembo, Stoptech, and AP Racing BB kits.

That's a bold statement even Brembo won't dare to make. Are you going to issue a FULL refund (i.e. no restocking charge), if one of us ordered the regular i BBK and it won't fit our cars?

Looks like I owe James@MB an apology.

My experiment with the Alcon front kit is a success! They bolted right on, so for those that are interested in a BBK setup with the xi, you're in luck!

Thanks Kev for the news. Can you post the exact kit you bolted on? Any plans for the rear or are you just going to stick with the original rears?

Here you go:

Waiting for the release of the rear kit from STaSIS. I also need to clear up some issues with AMEX.

Does anyone know if the "xi" rotors are identical to the "i" rotors? I'd assume that they are but I'd like to know for sure before ordering them.

Done assume.
Go to realoem.com and verify before you buy.
