If you have a JB4 and your only reason for buying the dpfix is to remove the SES light, then you don't need the dpfix. But, to pass inspections, you need to put the JB4 into map 0 (stock) and be able to have the fix in order to get the readiness code without throwing an SES light b/c of being catless. Search the forums, there are lots of threads which discuss not being able to pass emissions w/o the dp fix, even if you have a JB4.
