I frequently get one of two unpleasant reactions...The first and by far the most common is the look of extreme malcontent..Almost utter disgust, a revolting facial expression that accentuates the very essence of resentment. This of course is most prominent once my profile comes into view and they realize the owner is someone several decades their junior. To which I offer a subtle grin, to 'kill em with kindness' if you will.

The other is more readily comprehensible. I drive the speed limit because I commute 40 minutes to work and I try to stay moderately fuel efficient on days I sport my 335i. In addition, I paid for this car in full, with my own money...and like everything, it's all in my name. I love my car(s) and care for them like children. However...I understand that not everyone on the highway appreciates doing 65 as much as I do.

You are taking that remark way to seriously, methinks

It is not a measure of wealth it, it is a measure of status and perceived wealth. Big difference. There are those who drive a BMW or any other luxury car, for that matter, to impress those who know no better, and not other BMW owners. The great Fernando used to say, "Dah-leeng, it is better to look good than to feel good!"

I gotcha. I'm cool... that perceived wealth is what I was trying to point out and its all relative anyways.
I think what I was mostly perplexed with was the enthusiast comment. Maybe my definition is different.

335 drivers like to think BMWs became popular with the N54. They conveniently forget BMW is known for their NA I6 and V8 engines.

BMW is known for far more. They have a rich history in engine design and have applied it towards aviation, motorcycles, cars, motorsports etc. I am enthusiastic about who they are and what they make. I'd be happy, "enthusiastic", and content driving an e30, an r60/6, e46 convertible , e39, etc. Regardless, my attitude would be the same towards other BMW drivers. I just appreciate their vehicles and don't see any model being inferior to others. (although in reality there probably are crappily designed BMWs) Oh well.

I generally give a hand signal out the window at another modded Bimmer (mainly 3's), they understand the reasoning.
