LEATHERETTE chipping? defective??? (MORE PICS UPLOADED)
what can i do to fix this problem or prevent it from happening on more surfaces?
The material is leatherette and I also have a small tear 1cm on the rear bench, how much will it be roughly to seal it back up? It is small and barely noticeable but I would like to get it fixed to prevent it from getting bigger. *********PICTURE OF THE CUT******************************* *********PICTURE OF THE CHIPS***************************** They are not salt marks, that was what i thought it was earlier any inputs??? You can purchase repair kits (consisting of a small patch and adhesive plus colourant) from companies like Color-Plus.
I would also recommend periodically cleaning using Iz einszett 'Plastik-Reiniger' |

I used the OEM BMW interior cleaner spray to clean it and it didn't do anything and that was why I thought they were chips.
What cleaning products would you recommend that would be stronger and do a better job? |

I think the key is not what specific cleaner you use but that you re-wet the stained areas and allow the crusty deposits at the bottom of the texture to soften. Try a soft toothbrush and mild water based cleaner to lift the white-ish deposits and follow with a microfiber cloth.

Yeah thats leather not leatherette. They also look like stains not chips. Soak them, then try and remove them. You might also try a leather cleaner like Zymol or something and really scrub it in there with a toothbrush or something.

All you gotta do is check the door panel to see if you have leather or leatherette. ( look for the seam )
Leather - Leatherette -

I have leatherette. And with regards to the cut, how should I address that? roughly how much will it cost for a shop to seal that small crack back up?
Thanks |
