Finally got the car on an alignment rack at BMW today. My DSC light and every other traction light was on.

let's make long story short, i was waiting at a street and the road underneath gave in and car's right tire fell into a newly formed pothole, about a foot deep, and i believe it pushed my camber out. 4 days later, hit a curb and made all my traction lights come on (some dumb ass cut me off, bad week ) so took it for alignment.

Below is the sheet i got. the guy says the strut and strut bushing are more than likely impacted, the bushing for sure he saw was out.

Now my 2 questions to you guys are

1. Do you think that that is the issue, or could it be worse? He already checked contol arms and everything is good
2. If I go with a coilover setup, will it fix this issue?

lol, your shit is bent dude. Coilovers will normally not fix bent parts, but if it's the strut tube that's bent, then they will.

Make absolutely sure your lower control arm isn't bent, and the bushings are okay. you can damage the bushings with a hard impact. The arms are aluminum, so they'll tend to bend easy if you hit a curb.

Since you have lots of negative camber, my guess is it's your strut. but make sure you get the bushings checked too.

well the tech at BMW said i need the upper strut mount and the tension strut bushings for sure.........

he said the lower control arm doesnt look bent, but he said the best bet would be the strut and mount.

If you have to replace a front strut then you'll want to do the other front one as well ... how many miles on the existing shocks?

i have 84 ok the car.

So I have to replace in pairs, so getting coilovers might be a better option than

Just my 2 cents.

I had the same problem as you like three years ago.

I took a right turn too early and hit my back wheel on the curb.

The DTC was disabled and my steering wheel was crooked alittle.

Luckily, I had an appointment to get my new springs installed like a week after and after the install/allignment, it was gone.

Not sure if it helps but just sharing from experience.

I don't think anyone can tell you exactly since we have no idea what's broken. Internet diagnosis on bent suspension parts is going to be pretty suspect...

Maybe try finding someone local w/ stock suspension laying around and mount that and see if it helps. That way you can figure out if it's the strut or not.

to say the least I need to get the upper strut mount and strut replaced, thats what the BMW mechanic said.

Plus this is an excuse for me to purchase some coilvers to get better handlish, might as well.

I am thinking about getting the ST, what are your thoughts?

just installed mine yesterday (ST V1's). they feel pretty similar to my sport suspension as far as bounciness. so far so good. still adjusting height though to get to where i want...

I don't think coilovers will help you fix your problem. Sounds like something is bent or extremely off, but you really won't know unless you get them on. If you were going to do work to your suspension anyway, just do it all at once and get coils. Might save you some money on labor if you weren't going to DIY?

thats my thought because if I am paying someone to do it than might as well just get the coils done at the same time, i mean it has 84k miles on it, its about time the suspension got a facelift
