Repaired rim affecting alignment machine..
Just got my front rims repaired due to curb rash, the rash was filled and repainted. Then I did an alignment and I feel like the alignment is more off than what I had initially. I saw that they attached something to the rim during the alignment process, since the curb rash was filled and repainted, I was thinking that the overall dimension would change by a tiny bit and thus affecting the reading of the alignment machine.
Any ideas? |

I bought 4 new tires because the older ones were done and there were uneven wears. So since I got new tires I thought I might as well fix the curb rash and then do an alignment to prevent uneven wears again.

My question is if you fix one of the two rims, then they are not 100% identical so when you attach that measuring device to the rims, I was thinking the degree reading might be off by a tiny tiny bit thus affecting the final adjustment.

find a shop that has a "hunter" brand "road force balancing machine"
then make sure the tech knows how the fuck to use it. and pay extra for the road force balance. i usually watch to make sure they do what the machine says. sometimes it says dismount the tire and start again with the heavy spot of the tire lined up with the light spot of the wheel and they don't want to take the time to do that. watch and make them, that's the point of the machine. |

I got my alignment sheet and everything has been adjusted to spec. My question is for example, if the spec calls for 0.12 degree in camber angles and because there was an extra layer of paint on the rim and when they make an adjustment to 0.12, it might not actually be 0.12.

What you saw them attach to the wheel is a ballast. When you add material to fix a curb rash or crack, you are unbalancing the wheel. Counterweight/ballast will need to be added to balance the wheel.
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the alignment.
