Since I'm new here and still have to explore this forum, I hope I'm posting my question at the right topic. Hopefully you guys can help me out with my, perhaps, stupid problem/question.

Since a few weeks my turbo started to whistle and now I've saved enough to buy one, I can't figure out which one I need. Also, by looking under motorhood I didn't get any wiser. Just couldn't find any mark saying "Garret" or "Mitsubishi".

The last time I've visited official BMW dealer in the neighbourhood, he said that (mostly) they work with Garret. Also, by looking up in their system using my "chasisnumber" didn't help much to tell me for sure which one I need (garrett or mitsubishi), since it's not mentioned there.

Also, by looking around on the internet I found this list:

Again, according to this list my M47N2 with 163hp motor is fitted with Garret.


After I was almost sure that it's Garret, I found this:

And this site says that the only one that fits 163hp engine Mitsubishi one!

Also, a company which is specialised in turbo's for over 35 years, where I want to order my turbo, says that I'm wrong and it's Mitsubishi that I need and not Garret, which is shown here : http://www.turbochargers.nl/turbosho...135-05671.html



Since it's 2 against 2 ( dealer's opinion and 1 site against specialised company and another site ), I'm really confused and don't know who to believe.


Any help/suggestions are more than welcome!

This is the non-turbo section. You might try the Turbo Diesel section for better results.
