Anyone have experience with UHAUL Auto Transport?

Hey guys,

Im in the military and will be making a move from Fort Campbell, KY to Riverside, CA area. I am doing what is called a partial personal property move. So essentially the Army is taking the majority of my house hold goods and the i am taking the other portion of my allotted weight.

I am planning on renting a 10' UHaul with the Auto Transport. This is the auto transport that you drive the whole car up on. Does anyone have any experience with these. I will be towing a e92 335i, sport package. Im thinking there shouldn't be any clearance issues but just wanted to get your guys' opinions. Thanks.

I just trailered my 65 bug 850 miles on one. Its pretty low, about 5 inches off the ground. Got it up there pretty easy with the help of some 2x4's. Unless your car is super slammed, I don't think you'd have a problem. You can go to the uhaul website and they'll tell you whether or not it should fit. Hope that helps.

Good luck. I did a partial DITY move about a year ago. Not very far though (from VA to Bragg), but in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. I got some money out of it, but since I'm single, moving and packing so much stuff myself, weighing 3 different vehicles (moving truck included) over the course of like 3 trips, was all kind of a royal pain in the ass. The next time I move, if I am still single, I will probably have them move everything but a couple bags and my dog and we'll drive... Call me lazy, but it was just a pain.

A couple years ago I moved from Tennessee to Florida and towed my e90 on the auto transport. Once I got it up there, everything was fine... it was the getting up there part that was kinda tricky because I have the hartge lip on the front which lowers about an inch or so. I ended up getting some wood from home depot cut so I could stack it up in front of the ramps so I could roll up without tearing my lip off. Without the wood, it would've been trouble. With the wood, no problems at all. Also, once I got the car up there, they make you roll it all the way up to the end, and there's a piece of metal that sticks up at the end that your front has to clear. I would've cleared fine if I were stock, but I just put the wood at the front so my front tires sat on it, and my lip cleared fine.
All in all, the move went great. Every time we stopped for gas I made sure the straps were tight around the wheels and that's about it.
If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to PM me.
