Dark Souls PS3 (or XBOX)
Has anyone played this game? I have heard that completion can take anywhere from 40-100 hours because of the game's difficulty. I've also heard that the combat engine is really awesome.

Tried this game...hard is putting it mildly plus it gets to be repetitive doing runs through areas etc to build up "souls" i.e. money to buy crap which you tend to die once you get a decent amount and lose.

The graphics and interface seem sooo old school which to my surprise is a bit refreshing but I could see it being repetitive. It just had SUCH good reviews

I tell you the truth at first I enjoyed the game, even though I've never felt like smashing a game so much in all my life, but after a while it was like doing the same over and over again. Not to mention doing "runs" to get the souls etc got really old because you'd have to do it so many times and usually died 10 times. Plus some of the Boss fights were rediculous. Another trick of the game is other people online can "invade you" and most of these people were not there to help...

Bumping an old thread...
It is a fantastic old school style game that should not be missed. It plays like demons' souls if that helps you out any. There is no hand holding in this game, every mistake you make you pay for. With that said it is extremely fair minus a couple areas. You will know why you died every time. Personally I did not find the game difficult at all, it does demand 100% focus though like any old school game would. If you know how to pay attention and strategically plan your gear for your surroundings you will do fine. If you are a modern gamer who is used to hacking a slashing their way through a game you will hate this one. You will not find a better fighting engine in a rpg. Everything has weight and everything has has a counter to balance it out. It puts all other rpg's to shame fighting wise. You do have to live this game though. This is not a 30min affair every other night type of game. If you don't have the patience for this type of thing you probably won't like it. I know I'm new here but not new to games. Here is my gamercard for the ps3: |

The only thing that really bothered me, in game vs PVP, is you always had to fight on the defense, until I got stealth boots then it was fun to see how many critters I could sneak up on and whack from behind. Now the PVP was a crap shoot depending who came to visit you....haha
