![]() put ur filter in close the cap and call it a day, i have never let the oil go that low to even know if its normal or not but I'm pretty sure it is, my oil changes take about 15 mins tops. |

Yes, you must have used something to soak up or suck up the oil on the bottom of the housing. Mine has never drained by itself to reveal the oval shape hole.

My normal procedure on BMW cartridge filter cars so I don't get oil all over the place is to loosen the housing a couple of turns and wait for it to drain before pulling the filter. I don't see anything in the picture that's a problem, as others have said here. |

My car is just about to go out of motorplan (service plan) and since I don't do tremendous mileage per year I want to change the oil at least once a year which would then be approximately every 12k km compared to the normal 25k km interval. But now, what do you guys use to remove the oil filter cap? Some sort of strap grip or what?

Do you mean an oil cap like what the E46 has - 36mm socket fit?

Cool! Must keep an eye open for either this or the tool to remove the OEM cap! Thanks!
