Rear deck speakers on 2008 328i

I search the forums but couldn't find anything relative to my issue. Long story short, there is NO sound coming from the rear deck speakers. I put the fader to the back and only hear some sound from the speakers under the seat, none from the back. However, I did have the rear deck taken out a few times over the past 4 years I've owned it because it would creak a lot. I find it hard to believe I blew both speakers and am thinking they disconnected them and never put them back. Short of taking it to the dealer, how can I check this myself? Or do they not give off much if any sound at all?

Take a card and pop off the speaker grill. Then it's 3 bolts and they are out.

Thanks for your help! Its exactly what I suspected- they were disconnected. I realize it's just a factory system, but what a difference having the rears put out some sound! But seriously, what a bunch of assholes. Why would they intentionally disconnect my speakers? Just glad it was a simple fix, thanks again bmw325i!
