I don't post here often, but seeing as I'm getting a 335is in August, I am going to start posting more frequently.

I am thinking of doing these right off the bat:
iND painted reflectors
iND painted keyhole cover
golf tee mod
OEM European armrest
OEM X1 sunglasses holder

So what are some other dealer-friendly mods? Let's try to keep things clean and classy; bring on the suggestions!

There is no such thing. If a dealer wants to refuse you warranty service repair or replacement, they can based on the smallest or seemingly most innocuous of modifications. PPK, PE, PI, basically any BMW Performance part, is supported.

That SAID....Almost all the stuff you mention is cosmetic, in which case the dealerships really won't give a shit, unless said modified part is damaged, then obviously you're on your own. Golf Tee mod probably won't fly too well.

Hah! Not the response I was expecting, but I'm glad to hear it nevertheless.

I plan on holding out on the more aggressive mods until the warranty's over. I believe the golf tee mod for this car would only consist of unplugging an actuator in the trunk; would this still be okay?

Just get in with one dealer really, make some friends. It pays off. BMW pays the dealer no matter what, so in the grand scheme of things, unless it's a catastrophic failure, I wouldn't worry.

JB4 is a great choice. It is a piggyback mod, and puts some decent power down. Plenty of options, depending on what you drive of course.

If 328, concentrate on cosmetics, not much more power to be put on the table unfortunately (trust me, I tried).
If 335, you have a wide selection of goodies!

Golf Tee mod is fine, they arnt going to say anything. If you are worried with the dealership, i would get a COBB and drop in filter. That way it will be easiest to pull off for warranty work. As far as cosmetics they don't really care at all, but you have an iS anyway lol

Well, it's NOT the golf tee mod if you are unplugging the actuator... It accomplishes the same thing, but you're not using a golf tee and plugging the hose with it.

Isn't the golf tee mod only to make your exhaust sound better? Or is there some performance benefit?

Because if you're getting a 335is, the exhaust sounds pretty mean as is.

Some dealers let you get away with anything, some tell you go fuck yourself. Buying your SA a half gallon of Absolute for X-mas really helps some people out

Do the mods there if you are worried about being dealer friendly. They have lots of stuff but you have to pay to play.

In response to your OP... My dealership doesn't care at all about mods. I talked to my SA upfront. Which, I also recommend you doing. Just ask them... If they say yes, then yes. If they say no way, then no.

I asked, he said yes. I can bring in whatever the hell I want.

I read dealer friendly as easy to replace mods. In this case, I would do Cobb, Afe DCI, and an axle back exhaust. Now I wouldn't regularly change up the axle back, it's just that the dealers prolly won't give a hoot about an axle back exhaust since it doesn't touch any emissions. I mean the rest are easy mods. Reflash your car to factory ecu while you're reinstalling the stock intake. Should take about the same amount of time.

I might even add turbosmart dual port BOV's. They aren't too aggressive, and can be set to 50/50 atmospheric vent or full recirculating mode. They seem easy to install as they include all the tubing and stuff for installation.

I agree, make buddies at your dealership, stick with 1 service adviser & sales associate, be transparent with your plans & mods, most of the time they wont care as alot of it is reversible, the common perf mods anyway...

You scurred? Don't be. My second 335 here both with similar mods, first one had major work done ie. turbos and fuel pumps. Was never an issue just remove your tune. Do whatever you want, life is too short to wait for a warranty to expire lol

Current car is only two months old, mods in sig. Won't be an issue. Just find a cool SA. Cars also a lease
