Will vanguard v2 catback system fit 07 e90 335xi?
I'm looking at the vanguard v2 but not sure if it will fit properly without modification. I know the xi cars have a transfer case that may get in the way. Has anybody installed the vanguard v2 to their 335xi?
Thx |

No, won't fit. You need to modify part of the system. But it can be done by a good mechanic. Matt@Cambertoe can do this.

Thx for the info. I emailed pyspeed.com because I thought about getting the exhaust from them and asked the same question. They told me it'll fit with no modifications. I thought that didn't seem correct so I posted the same question here. Good thing I posted here. Thx again.

I just confirmed with Vanguard directly that the V2 doesn't fit unless the exhaust is modified.
Good thing I check with you guys and had doubts on PYSPEED. What's up with these vendors just looking to make a sale and spreading misinformation? Tiag335...thanks for all the info. I really appreciate it! |

you could get it modified..so far Ive been the only one to do it I believe. Sal@Camber-Toe is currently running it.
For the price, it would put you close to an AE exhaust, which EVERYONE else has..or you could be different ![]() |

From my research most axle backs will fit both i and xi e90s. This is the safest way to go.
As for catbacks, only AE and possibly AFE and Magnaflow fit XIs without modification. There may be others, but I haven't been able to verify. |

I have just put on a Magnaflow #16542 on my car. Many of the vendors state that #16540 will fit and sell this....but I got a Magnaflow rep to confirm that the #16542 is correct. It was not an easy bolt on process. Close clearance where the X pipes go...and had to weld a piece to connect both sides at the back of the exhaust. I am not happy with this exhaust...way to much drone at 1800-2400 rpm's. And very noisy. It is almost unbearable inside the cabin with the windows up. The tips look great as they fill out the cut outs for the dual exhaust in the rear. I will be checking for some exhaust contact on other body parts for the drone and noise. I hope this will help as I have read some happy people with their magnaflows.

Checked with the exhaust shop...there is not much help with the resonators. On this exhaust, they have "resonated tips" which do not help with the drone. This is a good exhaust to avoid in my opinion because of the drone. If you want loud, crusing around town...it is great..but any highway driving is so distracting to the driving experience.

AA's exhaust also fits, but there is a small note saying it may need some modification.
Also, speaking with Tiago@VSRF, their exhaust (due out sometime in July/Aug) will be XI compatible as well. Their DP pricing is very competitively priced, so hopefully this one will be a little more budget conscious than the ones mentioned above. Magnaflow's one has some of the lower gains available, with AE being the leader as of right now. AA's exhaust looks to be the lightest one, cutting about half the weight of stock.
