Is it this kit here? http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...Series-M3-E93/
They don't give much specs on the speakers themselves. Without changing/adding an amp, it's hard to get any real noticeable improvements in sound quality. Plenty of aftermarket places should be able to recommend a great sounding setup for you with a given budget - go out and audition some speakers see what you like the sound of better. What are your goals here, better clarity and more punch? |

I did the SWS-8 Earthquake and amp upgrade and the sound is incredible!
But then again i already had the individual audio. The speakers are great, just the subs were shit. I needed to make sure that when i cruise on chapel st, ulehs can hear me before they can see me. Its the only way to get the babes! |

Included new splits for front with tweeters and tweeter pods, and ALPINE 4 channel AMP, wiring harness, wires etc... I thought there was a similar kit for the 3 series (it may be the same kit...). The BSW sound upgrade is just plug'n'play replacement speakers with no Amplifier. Do you have the base sound system? Or HiFi or Professional upgrade? |

Have you looked at the ALPINE retrofit kit? I did this to my 135i. Cost me $600AUD to have it shipped from Germany with all required parts and then 3 hours to install it myself.

On my convertible, I have the Surround 7 system, so I wouldn't bother upgrade that one. However, on the Wagon, we had just the standard system, which didn't even have tweeters in the door. Do you have tweeters in your doors? If not, then the Alpine upgrade will work. I didn't use Alpine, I used DLS and did it all myself, but the installation is basically the same as the Alpine kit. new speakers with crossovers and an amp.

no "tweeters in doors" as I have the standard 320d convertible... ok so the general feeling is to go with the Alpine retrofit ??? I thought this would be an easy decision..NO SO FAR ???

I just got my Alpine HiFi kit delivered from Schmiedmann in Denmark and saved heaps but the only problem is that of other forum users who did the same - the tweeters arrived damaged and not useable. The way Alpine pack them in the box is crap and they get squashed. BMW are going to replace them for free but it is just the problem now of having to wait again. You need to be aware also that Alpine are winding back their production of this kit and if you want one you better get an order in quick - I had to wait 7 weeks for new stock to arrive into BMW Germany. I understand BMW Australia have none left and they have them on order. The kit is way cheaper to buy this way and provided you get it installed by a BMW Stealer you are covered by the 2 year warranty on the items. Last edited by PerthBMW; 06-24-2011 at 04:22 AM.. BSW
I just bought and installed the BSW stage 1 kit. I had the standard speaker setup (no logic 7). I must say I was very impressed with these speakers, the sound quality is great. I can now live with my car stereo. I have a 2009 335.
