Hi anyone replace their control arm bushing? Dealer want to charge me 600! Found out that parts are around 100! Ugh any diy s out there for this? Thanks in advance

I asked about this a few months ago in the suspension forum. Feedback was, don't bother buying the bushings, buy the entire control arm, which will likely include the bushing.

I also googled 'DIY control arm bushings' and found techniques like burning them out, which I really didn't want to do.

I think you will find that replacing control arms is slightly more expensive (in terms of part cost). I replaced my front tension struts upper control arms) for a parts cost of $150 and DIY'd the labor. The DIY of the tension struts is not difficult. There is a 'complete suspension change' DIY by CALWATERBOY under the suspension forum and he does cover the front control arms in his discussion.

Chances are if the bushing is blown, the ball joint is not far behind, and the arm will need to be replaced in it's entirety. Take a look at the Meyle HD control arms (stronger, 2x the warranty), for about the same cost.

agree with AlanAZ and I decided to go with the Meyle control arms myself. They are great.

Doing the control arms DIY took me about 2 hours. It should have taken less time but I've never done suspension work. First side took a an hour and a half. Second arm took about a half hour since I had a better idea of what I needed to do. If you decide to have a shop do it, I can't imagine them trying to charge you for more than 2 hours labor. They should be able to do it in one.

just an FYI you need to preload the tension bushing when you are installing the them, where the bolt goes through, not the ball joint side or you'll just prematurely let them leak again.
