IPOD integration for the E90
Anyone know if this is compatible with the E90? It lists compatability as any 3 2002+ 3-series, but I wonder if that includes the E90.

MOST likely not
The audio system in the e90 is based on the MOST fibre standard, and not compatable with the older system in the e46.
So the current BMW option won't work on the e90, just like it isn't compatable with the current 7-series or 5-series. Dension has announced a MOST compatable system, but I believe the pricing is around US$400, not including labor. On the plus side, it should include support for the ID3 tags, unlike the BMW option, but I'm just guessing on that part. |

i think it is absolutely rediculous that you cant plug in an ipod and be able to scroll through your playlists with the idrive controller....
they better work something out or else!!!!...haha...just kidding...but i would really like bmw and apple to work this one out.

well, with the AUX input, I dont think its a problem, just plug the ipod in and listen, and if you really want steering controls/id3v2 on the idrive, I would wait for BMW/Apple to release a new version of the controller which should be a similar price to the current one.

IPOD
I work at a BMW center I have been told that the ipod interface is not compatible with the E90 :rocks: but it will be soon. I think that is a shame because I have it in my 2004 330ci hp and i love it :rocks:

On a positive note, the Ipod does sound great through the Logic 7, even if you can't get the song titles to show on the stereo screen, you can at least get good sound.
I don't mind using the Ipod itself to change songs for now, and I will implement an ICELINK when it gets developed for our cars. Also, since I don't have Nav, I can use MP3 CDs and the song titles DO show up on the screen with this setup. Since one CD will hold 10 albums or so, I almost don't need to use my Ipod. |

Hi all, I am from South Africa and eagerly awaiting my 325, 8 week waiting list here. Am I correct in saying that the IPod can not be controled by the IDrive? Just wana make sure, rather by a MP3 player over here a 20gb IPod cost about $800.00 and a MP3 player arround $100.00.

I just use the AUX setting and pre-select a playlist. Not that big a deal, and it works great. Only problem is I sometimes forget to turn off the iPod when I get out.
