Question about E85...

Hi guys.

Wondering if it is safe to run the E85 maps on Procede/JB4 without a downpipe. Also, would an intake be required due to higher boost?

My thought is it would be safe but hard on the turbos, and that a DCI or intake is required because more air is needed for more boost..(?)

Thanks

I've ran the E85 maps with JB4 and Stett CAI only with no problems

Yep, you can. I would do DCI at least. Guys are making FBO numbers with just 50:50 E85

it runs fine with just a tune + E85/octane mix. You may max out your wastegate cycle duties though without other mods so you may not hit target boost.

Would you care to elaborate why this is?

IIRC in general terms, if it's maxed out, it's basically making making it's maximum boost it can make, regardless of it hits boost target or not.

example: if it's maxed out 100% @ 14.5psi in a specific map designed for mods you don't have that targets 17psi, you'll never hit 17psi. You can alleviate the WCDC by adding mods to assist with breathing.

I was maxed out with E85/93octane, JB4, methanol 49/51% mix @ 16.3psi. Once I added DCI, my cycle duties are still maxed out, but now @ 17.5. But if I were to bring down my boost to 16.3psi, my WGCD would be at about 93%

Oh ok, yea, that makes sense.

Thanks for the info, as I had the same question.

Not to hijack, but i'm currently running a 20% mix of E85 with 91 octane. This was not intentional, I just put too many gallons of 91 octane in before adding the E85 so I didn't get the ratio I was looking for.

Since I'm currently running Map 5 on my JB4, do I need to switch maps and re-learn if I increase my E85 ratio on the next tank of fuel, say to 75/25 or 60/40? Thanks in advance for the input!

I found the answer to my above question on N54Tech... unless you make a drastic octane change, no need to switch off of Map 5 for a relearn, it will do it on it's own.

So what Procede map for a 50/50 mix of E85 and 93oct on a car with just intake?

Noticeable difference over just straight 93oct?

Only reason I ask is I can get E85 on base regularly

5-23map1 stage 1 or 0. yes you will notice the difference because timing is more aggressive.

My Procede 2.5 SE came pre-loaded with 4-23 Aggressive Stg 1 6AT maps, so update after I install?

Eh, a bit more to learn about Procede I guess. I was thinking you could load different maps for each thing, but I guess it is all or nothing when it comes to the setup E85 or not.

does it make sense to add e85 to 100 octane

shiv promised a map that can do both in the future. he's just busy with single turbo project lately.

not sure why you'd want to add expensive gas, but my engine runs a tad cooler with e85 (at least on my last track event), so it's not just octane.
