VSRF downpipe installed, but rattles.
I just got my vsrf 3" catless ss downpipes installed today. The BMW indy mechanic said that it took awhile longer than expected to complete the install. I read in other forums of other members having some rattling when accelerating lightly. So I made sure to tell the technician to confirm that there is no rattle after the install. He confirmed it with a test drive.
I picked it up this afternoon and drove it home. Awesome sound... Did couple WOT pulls on the highway. Couple hours later I do another pull,....Awesome!.. feels even stronger.. Then when I was about to pull up to a parking lot, I hear something rattle. I drive more and noticed with slight acceleration i can duplicate this rattle. Some say that it is the DPs hitting against the heat shield. I'm hoping that it'll go away after it settles. Has anyone found out what's really causing this? If it is the DPs hitting against the heat shield, can I wrap heat resistant foam or what ever to stop this? |

It could be a few things: the DP rubbing against the heatshield, subframe or transmission rubbing, one of the DP connections are lose (turbo to DP clamp or DP to midpipe), or your exhaust wasn't tightened sufficiently.
I'd say go back, make sure everything is lined up properly & that there are no loose connections |
