Try the highest octane you can get and report back.
Anything 93 and up should be sufficient, just avoid leaded gasolines.

You should run timing that matches your fuel. If your tune is only setup for 93 and you are not having any timing pulled then 93 is the best solution. Running anything higher than that will be a waste of your money and will not give you any benefits at all.

Try using between 93-95 octane (some blend of pump gas & E85 or Race Gas). I use a splace of 100 octane w/ my 93 just to improve the timing, but running straight 100 octane on the COBB won't increase performance (unless you have a ProTuned Map that was designed for Race Gas).

^^That could very well decrease performance. Google an octane calculator (or do the simple math). If you fill up from empty, use 10.9 Gallons of 91 and 4.1 Gallons of 102 -- That'll give you home-made 94.
Here's an octane calculator for future reference: http://www.wallaceracing.com/octane-mix-calc.php |

More timing advance increases power, but also the chance of detonation. Boost and air/fuel ratio (AFR) also affect power and the likelihood of detonation. Therefore, if you have a map that won't cause detonation at 91 octane, then you will not obtain any benefit from increasing octane, since raising octane will not alter the timing, boost, or AFR targets. Higher octane gives you the possibility of raising one or more of the aforementioned parameters, thereby yielding more power without risk of detonation. |

Do not run too much octane, it doesn't help any. Run the mix like others have pointed out, get around 94-95 octane. Otherwise you're wasting money on race gas that doesn't do you any more good.

So as was stated earlier, if you only have 91 and 102, you need to calculate out an average to 93, which is simple math. You need to be absolutely sure you maintain that mix every time you fill up though. If you hit a station that doesn't have 102 and just add 91, you need to switch back to a "Sport" map on the AP, which is designed for 91 octane. |
