Maintenance count down?

Hi everyone,

New to the BMW world, and purchased my first a month ago. I've noticed something that is somewhat concerning, and is hoping to get answers and suggestions.

My car currently has 87,000km on it, and there's a a number in the gauge that reads roughly "3,600" and it counts down. I'm assuming it's either scheduled maintenance or an oil change? But the oil change doesn't make sense because I just got it done recently, and the bar graph indicates everything is fine.

So I did my research, and came across this:

The recommended service interval is approximately every 15k, and alternates as follows:
15k Oil service
30k Inspection I
45k Oil service
60k Inspection II
75k Oil Service
90k Inspection I
105k Oil Service
120k Inspection II

That being said, should I be following this rule? I'm near my 90k Inspection 1, is it just an overall inspection on my car to ensure it's been checked, and problem free?

Thanks!

Well it depends if you have a warranty or not, if not then your going to be paying lots of money just to get that all done. There's lots of DIY on here that can help you maintain the car yourself.

Also what you mentioned about the numbers, yes it's basically a countdown when your next maintenance is due for the specified picture/symbol. But if you changed your oil at an independant dealer or the dealer itself, maybe they forgot to reset the computer unless you did the oil change yourself because the car does not automatically detect anything new. Most new things you put into your car excluding cosmetic parts sometimes has to be programmed/coded or reseted on the computer.

Hope that helped.
