few q's on my e91

Hi

as i am a relative newbie to e91 ownership i have a few questions...

firstly do the wing mirrors fold in electrically? or can you get them to tilt when in reverse to see kerb?

Cant seem to find anything on idrive regarding engine temps??

under the front armrest i see a slide switch that i dont know what it does next to a cup holder..? is it a heater?
Also there is a button with a speaker looking symbol on it that when pressed lifts up a plastic bit that has a connection of some sort under it??

I have bought some black kidney grills, do i have to remove bumper to fit?

Also have noticed that the rear console has something missing from the bottom tray... the fan section is there and then a middle blanking plate and then there is an empty slot that has plastic runners and a plastic cog looking thing there so obviously something has broke from it.??

thanks for your help in advance.

Ok here goes,

Mirrors will be electric if you have the switch next to the one that selects left or right mirrors to adjust.

Mirrors only dip in reverse if you have electric memory seats.

Not sure about engine temps as I don't have idrive.

The switch directs cold air into the compartment to keep a can or something cool. Basically opens a vent in there to let a/c air in.

The speaker button and tray thing is for fitting a phone. Means you have Bluetooth, but you can remove the panel and add a special adapter on the connectors to charge your phone and use the external antenna on the car for reception.

Don't need to remove bumper to fit grilles, no.

Bit where blanking plate is, is for double cigarette lighter sockets. Was an option but can be easily retrofitted. Under that is the rear ashtray. Or should be.

I can only help you with the mirrors question, I've got a 2006 e90 330d and i can fold my mirrors by pressing and holding the BMW logo button on the fob, there's also a button on the drivers arm rest, near the window controls. My passenger mirror tilts when reverse is selected.

The engine temp can't be found via idrive, I need to find out how to find it as well, I'm told its something to do with the mileage reset button near the speedo

I don't have memory either. Only partial electric. But the mirrors do fold, and they do tilt on reverse.

Only the side bolsters are electric on
mine, but they are heated and I have electric folding and the n/s tilting mirror.
To the best of my knowledge,my mirrors don't fold from the fob-I know that it can be easily coded in,but don't think it's a standard feature.
My windows and pan sunroof all open and close from the fob though...
The changing of your grills is really easy.If your car is pre lci ie you have four pieces to your grill(2 kidneys/2brows) there is a fitting guide on this site-let me know if you can't find it,if you need it and I'll find it out.
The oil temperature can be accessed by coding and maybe available via the hidden menus.

To clarify two points above - The tilting function is there if you have either electric folding mirrors or fully electric memory seats (but not part electric).

You can fold the mirrors in manually, there is quite a strong spring in them, but give it a good shove.
