335d gearbox...

I have read than that in 2008 BMW fitted stronger gearboxes to the 335d's.
Now mine is a 2008 but how would i know if its the later version gearbox. Someone has suggested it will do block downchanges, so if thats true how would i test that?

According to RealOEM the 335d's are still running the same gearboxes they started out with in May 2005.

Ian, 335d was not out in 2005. You mean 535d?

I've also never heard of them upgrading the gearbox.

heres a snippet i have copied from another forum

ME: mapped they are 340-360 + over 500lbs/ft

Other User : Which maybe isn't such a good idea as I believe at least some of the 2008 models had the ZF 6HP26 gearbox which according to the ZF website has an input rating of 443ft/lbs of torque. The later cars have a 6Hp28, which is rated at 520 ft/lbs. Depends on when your car was made as the change over was around 2008 I believe, think you can tell if your car will do block downchanges with the newer (higher rated) gearbox rather than having to change down one gear at a time.

Mate, people talk tripe..... Mapped 335d don't make 360HP, they need more than Just a map to make 360.

Also most decent mappers have torque limiters built into the map in 1st & 2nd gear. I ran a mapped 07 335d from late 07-2010 with no issues. I did over 150+ FULL BORE, eye watering brake boosting launches at the drag strip in mine and the box never EVER made any noises or gave me any problem,

It's a tough car mate.
