For those with Auto - How do you Drive your car?
Running around town, how do you drive your auto transmission?
Do you leave it in Drive and change to Sports mode sometimes? Do you Leave it in Sports? If you have paddles, do you use them? Just curious. |

When I had the standard auto, always drove in DS.
With the DCT, I mostly drive in DS, and sometimes have the 'Sports' mode engaged too. Only really use the paddles when I want to keep it revving high (e.g. 1st or 2nd gear). |

Mostly in Drive, only on long downhills use Sports mode to engage lower gears to engine brake and keep to the limit without standing on the brakes. Maybe not how it was intended to be used, but works for me.

Like most with DCT I suspect, mostly in Drive / Sport Button.
Use Manual / Sport when in out of the way places Plus often use paddles when in Drive to downshift when I want not when it wants ! |

With the DCT in my 135i and I prefer to shift manually 95% of the time. Firstly, its not as smooth as a normal slush box. Secondly I don't like the auto program because it will go into 7th gear from about 70km/h.. I guess 1400rpm.

That is exactly as it's intended to be used. There is nothing more frustrating than being behind someone who is constantly putting their foot on the brake, or goes all the way down hills with the brakes on the entire time. Use your gears and it will save your brakes and your wheels will stay cleaner as well.

Drive mostly, use manual shift when in the hills, as the auto doesn't get it in either D or DS.

I bought the X5 under the individual program which allowed me to option the car with HECTIC mode. D, DS then HECTIC, worth every penny of the $27,888 i paid for this option.
