hello. sorry if this particular question has been covered before but i cant seem to find it. with my old car i just sprayed stuff on the rims i dont remember what it was called but i didnt even have to wipe it or anything i just sprayed it and let it sit then rinsed it off with the hose. i got avant garde rims with my new e92 and the guy from **********s said when you go to the car wash make sure you tell them no acids on the rims only soap and water because it will destroy the clear coat. i am going to assume that spray i used to use was acidic. is the only was to clean them with soap and water? because the avant garde m310's i have, have soooo many nooks and crannys that it takes like 2 hours to clean them with a rag with soap and water. is there any spray that i can use that is not acidic? do any of you guys use that acid sprays on your rims without problems? i wouldnt dare do that unless other people said its ok to do. thanks

A lot of people use Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner.

I personally like using a automotive quick detailer and a micro fiber.

It works great and takes about 5 mins tops

I recently started using a dedicated wheel bucket with soap and an assortment of brushes to get the barrel of the wheel, caliper and intricate areas as well as a wash mitt to do the majority of the cleaning. Wheel comes out looking great and its pretty quick to just move around the car.

Get some sonax. Go to Detailers domain.

I also use Griots garage wheel cleaner. It doesn't work as effectively but still does a decent job.

Just finished my 3rd bottle of sonax today. Spray it on wait 4 to 5 minutes and spray off with a strong stream of water..... You shouldn't have to touch the wheel. On a side note I will be going to the bmw dealer near me to buy the bmw wheel cleaner. Guys have said its the same exact product as sonax at 7.80 for the same size bottle its a great deal. I will report back on the results I get with " bmw " wheel cleaner

how do you ensure your barrels are clean? I felt a few of those wheel brushes and they seem very harsh. Almost the same consistency of a toilet brush.

I use an Ez-Detail brush from Detailers domain. The bristles don't hurt the wheels but they have to be somewhat aggressive in order to eliminate the brake dust.

I really like using the Bufferstick to clean wheels with many faces and tight spots:

Though very good at cleaning, I found the tool useless for applying/removing wheel wax with the MF bonnets.

FWIW, I've used both and they're the same. I havn't used it in a while though because I was unsure if it would eat the wheel wax which takes a while to apply.
