Z51 is a suspension package, nothing more.

I just ran a C6 (the one with 435hp stock) at the Shift-S3ctor Roll-on on the back straight at Big Willow. Elevation is something like 2,300 ft if I remember and the track temps were in the mid to high 80's, which meant DA's were near 5,000 ft.
The C6 vette had some bolt ons, but I don't remember exactly what he had. My mods are Procede Rev 3, PWM meth, catlezz dps and DCI....oh and full weight e92 6AT with LSD and heavy 19" wheels I made 412/446 at the wheels at sea level. There's a vid somewhere....I pulled a few cars on the C6. The high DA's gave me a huge advantage.

Im guessing he meant LS2 or LS3.
LS3's came out in 08 and are quite more powerful than the LS2. I think the numbers went from 400 to 430hp but supposedly the power curve and everything in between was better in the LS3. |

The LS3 motor is an incredible motor and means some serious business when supercharged or even twin turbo'd. The stock internals in the LS3 which is a 6.2 liter motor, are far superior internally compared to even the LS7 which is in the C6 Z06 and 7.0 liters. If your planning on modding a vette, you should get the grand sport so it has the widebody, brakes, suspension, hood intake scoop, lower front valance, and also the scoops on the sides of the cars. The motor that comes in the ZR1 (one of the fastest stock cars I have driven...well actually the fastest STOCK car to be honest...) is the LS3 motor with a top mount supercharger. The LS3's stock internals can handle ALOT of power. Thats why most educated vette enthusiast, buy a Grand Sport to get the brakes, widebody, larger rear tires, suspension, scoop in front of hood, and put a power adder on it such as a BIGGER supercharger or even Twin Turbo it on stock internals! My buddy is a vette freak and did full KW suspension, wheels, even larger width in back that are super lightweight, full Akropovic exhaust, upgraded input shafts, upgraded LSD, TWIN TURBO set up (dont know exact specs on how big turbos are) on stock internals and made close to 775whp on pump gas at only 7psi lol. It spins thru 1st 2nd 3rd and half of 4th lol. Well atleast when I drive it

FWIW I have a C5 Z06 and I have yet to lose to a FBO N54 (even on W/M). A properly setup Z06 is a monster from 40+. My car only has intake and tune, but realize that many individuals with C5 Z's have cracked 11's bone stock on pump gas. C6Z is fairly similar to around 100, but then really keeps pulling at the higher speeds. A FBO N54 should beat a LS2 C6, but an LS3 would be a bit of a challenge. With a good driver, I would just be a little careful messing with anything LS3 or higher.
