Air Filter Maint.

I just use the OEM paper one.

How often do you guys change? According to BMW Maint it only needed changed once in my car's 73k mile history. I did change it on my own at around 35k miles. Then they changed it at 50k. Thoughts?

Inspect yearly and change if visibly soiled.

Good advice. It's cheap enough, and paper filters keep more dirt out of the engine, which DOES get into the oil. Disadvantage is they are somewhat restrictive once increasing boost - there is power left behind with only a stock filter. They're not nearly as deeply pleated as other cars' filters. For long-term oil and engine life, keep the paper filter in place.

If you get S&B filters, they filter at the same level as the paper filters yet provide more flow... Just a thought.
