There is a 10 year recall warranty
For 06 3 series bmw's if its a seat senor problem.
On the front passenger seat sensor in the US. If the pressure senor fails within that period its suppose to be replaced free. Recall 08v384000 seat occupant sensor defect says it only apply s to 06's in the 3 series though http://www.automd.com/recall/campaign_c73379/ |

I think they are being kind nit picky
about that recall it happened in the same year as the model year of your car.
I have had that error once but it went away. I though a remembered reading somewhere somebody made a jumper that fooled it into thinking it was outputting the right value. When I had the error I was considering options my self . |

My 2006 325xi wagon had the same problem at 42K mi. Brought Tenafly BMW (NJ), they wanted $200 just to run the diagnosis. Plus extra to fix if there is a problem.. I asked if there is a recall. She said NO.. Then I brought my car to my mechanical in Palisades Park, NJ. The owner ran a test, reset and the lights are off. DONE! He said it could be short wire or the sensor. But at least the lights are off. I tipped him $10...
(BTW, the owner at Alltech has been treating my bimmer like his car. Highly recommended) |
