Nowt wrong with a Mondeo - in fact a LOT is right about it.
If I am honest with myself, the best all-round car I have ever owned (taking into account the inevitable purely subjective issues like badge snobbery from others) was a V6 Mondeo. Sure, I have had much sexier cars that are lusted after, have great character and cause great highs. But never found a better, more honest all rounder. Great combination of practicality and fine handling. Also great to blend into the background, too. Hide a tree in a forest D.

i have had 2 mondeos myself, an st200 (mk2) and a mk3 boring 2.0 ghia - but i never had ANY problems with the mk3 (4 years owned). ford took great strides in quality with the mk3
new mondeo mk4 looks quite interesting, should give the passhat/vectra etc a good spanking. looks very futuristic inside with good quality. |

Is there anyone on here that hasn't driven a Mondeo?
As everyone says, good honest cars that almost everyone has been exposed to. It's just that the fleet deals mean that you either buy 2nd hand or take a kick to the crotch in depreciation.

Ironically I haven't, although I've driven plenty of Focus' on hire on holiday abroad and stuff. Never had the opportunity to drive a Mondeo though.....
Although technically my wife's X-Type Estate is based on the Mondeo, so I suppose I have indirectly

I had a mk2 V6 Ghia X, in which I did 65K in. I was a bit disappointed in it to tell you the truth. The engine was a bit gutless, the seats were poor and the handling was not what it was cracked up to be. The traction control was a joke with the engine almost being switched off completely if a wheel lost grip. It had lots of toys but the 320d SE Touring I had after it was a much better car in all respects.
Regards Chris
