Regretting not holding out.
Well 6 months down the line i am regretting not holding out for the e91 and settling for my e90.
Dont get me wrong, i luv my e90 which is my first BMW but its not practical enough. We do a lot of camping / hiking / climbing and were getting a family dog soon, i really need the boot space. I had been without a car for 6 weeks and needed one desperately, couldnt find a suitable e91 and thought i could live with the e90. No chance of any dog sitting on my rear seat lol, Who designs a car these days where you cannot fold the rear seats down. Sorry, rant over pmsl

Do you have 2 family cars? I bought my E91 for dog carrying purposes, but TBH, when there's 2 adults and 3 kids and any bags, there's no room for the dog anyway - it's family OR pets
The dog usually goes in the OH's Focus

I have an e92 with the folding seats and for a 2 door cope you can carry some really big stuff if you need to.

The centre console, however, is another matter

Off topic.... Fixed that one some time ago with those most useful of things, sticky felt feet. Picture attached of upturned cover assembly end. Put the pads underneath (1off) and at the front egde (2off) of the unit at both ends, so it rests on the pads now instead of plastic to plastic, never a peep heard since Last edited by doughboy; 07-24-2012 at 08:15 AM.. |

And you don't want to go far with the seats down, as its dangerous in an accident with things flying round the car (like dogs) Re the folding seats, BMW do make folding seats, but some people are too mean to pay for them when they order it |

Try the felt pads and see, only a few p.
The squeaking used to change drawn/retracted, I can only think that when drawn it is pulling on the cartridge assembly making it squeak in ts mountings. ...or the little pegs that hold it drawn (and that sometimes don't let it pop up when you open the glass tailgate) may need a dab of vaseline?? |

I just did 3 weeks driving / 5,400 miles / wife / 20-month old to the Arctic circle and fitted it all in to an E90! I even fit in a bottle of water-free carwash, microfibre sponge and glass cleaner! |

Massive difference between an 18 month old and a 4 year old, believe me, then add a dog and you need a van.

Your wife is a saint. We can't go away for an evening without taking the entire house with us. Last time we went to Sandsend for four nights we had a row about taking our 4yo's plastic dining table booster seat jobby. It's fucking enormous and I said he could eat sitting on a cushion like a normal child. We also have this ridiculous thing that goes in the bath that's like a seat for our 1yo and she's also been known to insist on a high chair. You know. Just in case.
And don't get me started on prams. Actually I will start on prams. We've got one of those Quinny things that actually has air filled tyres (non-runflat) so that gives you idea of how cumbersome it is. It's a great bit of kit for the park or round town or wherever but it's not exactly compact. Surely borrowing my parents 40 quid fold up stroller would be a better idea? NO! Heaven forbid we ever went abroad. We'd have to hire one of those sea containers to follow us to our destination. |

Well it was nice and quiet this morning but then it usually is because it's cooler. See how we go today if the temperature rises. Cheers for the tip doughboy. I actually bought a job lot of those pads for all the other annoying noises in the car.

I have one small bag, the little un has a bag and the missus has about 15 bags. Including an entire case of shoes, and entire case of toiletries, several large bags-for-life full of hair dryers, straighteners, more shoes, a dozen jackets 'just in case' etc. Not forgetting 2 bikes and tricycle, bike child seat, a scooter, inflatable paddling pool, cooler boxes (x2), folding table and chairs, bbq, wind break, football(s), cricket set, tennis rackets etc etc.... 20 month olds are easy, some food and nappies, sorted. You wait! We don't have dog fortunately. Last edited by doughboy; 07-25-2012 at 06:28 AM.. |
