Weird COBB install problem
I just got a Cobb AP for my 2008 335xi and as soon as I start installing it it gives me following errors when backing up ecu:
AWD, DSC, ABS, EMERG EBV And when it starts flashing the ecu to Cobb maps it also adds following error: Malfunction in transmission These errors go away when I uninstall Cobb and car drives fine. I first tried with v301 maps and then updated to latest AP firmware and v401 maps but still same problem. Anyone ever had any such problem, Cobb is closed till Monday so can't call em.

Lots of lights flash during the install, although I am not sure which ones exactly. I don't think there is any reason for you to worry, but maybe someone else can chime in.

God i hate XI and cant wait to get rid of it. I know whenever i disc. the battery i had to turn the steering wheel all the way right and left or driving it a bit and lights would go away, but there was no grinding noise though.. Only had grinding noise like that when my TC servo motor went south, but my lights stayed on at all times and when id clear all faults, driving like 10ft would trigger the lights to come back..

Not sure if it would cause this, but are you positive you have the right ECU version?

Try putting a little butter on it and make sure you input the small end first. LOL Sorry, couldn't help myself.
OP, hopefully you made a backup before you started to flash. If so, try removing the AP and disconnect the battery on the car to reset everything. Once you reconnect the battery, make sure your AP is plugged in all the way before you start your flash. Hopefully it will take without throwing errors, otherwise you should wait until you can contact COBB for assistance. |

when i installed mine, i believe i got the transmission error (during install). Didn't think much of it because COBB web site does say light will flash in such. Car runs fine. all errors we gone after install was complete though.
sorry to hear, you will be good to go in no time. COBB has great support.

Popping all the errors during install is normal, having them continue after the install is complete is NOT normal.
Are you attaching a battery charger during the install process? Have you triple checked that you downloaded the correct version for your ECU? The process can take a while and the ECU draws a lot of power during the install. If you don't have a battery charger installed, the battery can be low (particularly if you have installed and uninstalled several times) and this can cause problems. |
