Help removing shadow line molding

Hey guys, in order to remove the smallest piece of chrome molding under the side mirrors, do you need to remove the mirror or just get in there and snap it out??

Seems easier if the mirror came off. If so, how do I get those off?

I'm pairing my shadow lines today.

I did this not too long ago. There is a DIY on this. Use the search and yes you have to remove the mirror by taking the door panel off and black plastic triangle piece to expose the screws
