e90 320i ccv/oil separator
hi guys im new to the forum and BMW scene and loving it. BUT
i just purchased a bmw 320i secondhand and want to fix a few oil leaks that i can see. before i do... i've read that this is due to high pressure in the crankcase caused by the ccv/oil separator being blocked. So i'd like to change that before i fix the other oil leaks. I've tried searching everywhere for a diy or any pictures of the CCV/Oilseparater is on a 320i E90 but no good. Any help will be great. thanks guys Last edited by markeymagz; 07-27-2012 at 05:36 AM.. |

hi mate. I ve had a leak problem about two mounths ago. Dealer told me that it was the profile gasket and the vacum pump O ring that had to be changed.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...&fg=15&lang=en Due to the hard to locate and maintenance position and after a good TIS reading I ve seated to the axel and paied 240euros to the (st)dealer for half an hour work and three hours wait time for the glue. Any way you ll need TIS and patience.

yeah the ccv looks as if it will be a fussy job i ended up just replacing vacuum pump o rings and oil filter housing gaskets yesterday.
i might just pay a mechanic to change the ccv as taking the intake manifold looks like abit of work.... i cant be bothered. |

Surelly a mechanic could not charge much. The gasket and the O ring costed me about 100euros. I think that you can buy them for less from a parts shop and negosiate the labors prise.
Good luck anyway and inform me about the end of the story.

i ended up changing the ccv/oil separator my self and just followed the the service manual for a E46. It took me about about 4 hours taking my time and cleaning the intake manifold/ throttle body.
I think next time it needs replacing i will just pay someone to do it. It is pretty easy but just time consuming. |
