"As for price if you ask it's too much."

Consider this is not an expensive product, such as a car, house, or even high-end stereo. This was an electronics product that only costs a few hundred bucks. It was online and not in person, so the guy couldn't assume I was poor based on appearance.

For me, it totally turned me off to the sale. Why would I want to buy from someone who is such a snob?

I consider it arrogant. I have worked in Retail before and you should never assume someone doesn't have money. You should never ever be even remotely rude to your customers. Even if the guy couldn't afford it, he could refer someone who can.

Every customer is a potential customer. You should never take out your anger on the next person. He will never succeed this way IMO.

Its true, i've worked in retail too and you should NEVER assume anything about a customer.......i mean hell, i've seen people that look like shit and later on i see them in a lamborghini. I drive no lamborghini thats for sure, but even with myself, if you see me sometimes when i just go out to get something from the store or some food and I look like hell and im wearing shorts and shirt.......you wouldnt think id drive a 335 or something (which is nothing but still)

Phoenix AZ. Salesman sitting out front of a Lexus dealership. A guy is on a bicycle riding around looking at the LS400's. Long hair, shorts. The veteran sales guys tell the new guy,"there you go, go get him". He goes out to talk to him. The guy paid cash for a black 400 for himself and a white one for his wife. It was Alice Cooper. Never assume!

If he expressed it in terms like "if you have to ask how much it costs, than you probably can't afford it" then thats some fucked up shit.

But it kinda seems like hes just giving you a heads up. For example, saying that its not going to be cheap, but I don't have the numbers right now to give you an exact price.
If that was what he was tryin to say than I see no problem with it.

And you gotta remember, its hard to judge what someone says online than in person. Just imagine how many times people misunderstand what your trying to say on these boards and take it differently!

From the PM he is a douchebag. I feel you should move on man. Call him up if you want and say why you arent using his services. Maybe knock some sense into him.

Last I checked people don't just hand over their credit card, check, or random amount of cash to a sales person. they need to know how much things cost.

He's an idiot. Even if I had a billion dollars in the bank, I'd still ask for prices. That's just stupid.

I'd have him do the whole thing, then when you go to pick up the car, I'd hand him $50 bucks. Then when he explains that it costs more, then go... "oh, you said, if I asked then I couldn't afford it, so I kept my mouth shut so that it would be in my price range, which is $50".
