Overheating problem
This is my first post so bare with me!!!!
So the other day my car threw up the overheating warning light Yellow. Then about 5 seconds later went red. I immediately shut down the car and restarted it and it was fine Then, I got home and the coolant level was on MIN so I filled it up to MAX level. Subsequently I bleed the system with the Phillips screw cap on the coolant reservoir. Afterward for a couple of days it was fine. Followed by today it did it again so I thought it might be the water pump but, I did the water pump test (key on, temp at 84 and held the pedal down for 10-12 seconds) and I heard the water pump. I was like maybe it’s the thermostat but, it doesn’t go over operating temperature on the gauge. So guys I am completely dumbfounded could it possibly be a Coolant temperature sensor or a Coolant pressure sensor? It sucks because it throws up no code either, and if it was a water pump and it is an electrical water pump wouldn’t it throw up a code? Sorry I’m used to my 03 COBRA (RIP) and insight on this would be great. ![]() |

It probly is the water pump. Happened to me, overheated one day with coolant all over the place, next day was fine, then overheated again with coolant all over the place. The pump may have worked when you did the bleed procedure but it must be acting up and starting to fail sparaticly.
If it is the pump i suggest changing the thermostat also being it needs to be removed to swap the pump out
