Stray (FERAL) Cats leaves marks/scratches on hood - help!
So, we have lots of stray cats in our apartment complex (they actually have litters and adds to the problem). The apartment complex can't do anything because the animal control center doesn't catch the animals, only takes them in (this is a separate problem).
I know cat's like warm places, and after work, parking the car, they love sleeping on the hood. However, for them to get up there, they need to jump up and keep from sliding off. The cats left light scratches on the car as well as nasty oily fur marks. I can get rid of the smudges from their oils, but I'm worried about the scratches. Can the scratches be removed? (fine scratches - I don't know if they will even come up on camera)? Has anyone ever had this issue before? Thanks in advance, Laxn |

Im sure they will most likely polish out.
Then after theyre removed, seal the crap out of the car, make it damn slippery so they cant even get up there. I doubt they will leave anything deep enough that a buffer wont get, but im sure theyll be back so that has to be annoying. |

i had this happen on my fathers car, we buffed it, most were gone, then machine polished the hood and fender, and it was good as new... as for the cats, we started to take coffee grinds and put them in the grass area next to the car, cats apprently dont like the smell(heard it from a friend), they stopped coming around.

Cats can be removed easier than the scratches.

You have options here.....
1. Take matters into your own hands, live traps are the most humane but a gun works too. 2. Car cover. Annoying but affective. 3. Wolf urine. Smells awful but cats won't go anywhere near it. It doesn't have to go on the car just around it. 4. Live with the cats and fix the scratches as you go. Best of luck to you. I had the same problem when I parked at my parents home for about a week. Drove me crazy. As for the scratches they should come out easy as I would assume they are not very deep. Cheers |

i would suggest a car cover but that might get annoying on a daily basis... another option is if the cats only seem to like the hood area.. to just place some sort of cover or sheet on the hood only.. it will prevent scratches and be less annoying than an entire cover.... or if you're willing to spend a little money for this problem, just get the entire hood covered in 3M protective film.

These fine scratches can be removed with an orbital polisher / polishing pad / finishing polish or Megs SratchX

The greasy mess they left was more revolting than seeing the slight scratches.
I waxed them out, can't see them. I just don't want that nasty grease marks or whatever it was on my car again. |

I had the same issue...went to petsmart and got a cat away spray. To my surprise it actually worked. It's been almost 2 weeks since I last had paw prints on my roof/glass. Just spray it around the car and do it for several days until the cats get the hint not to go near it
