N54 engine of the year 2007-2008... equipped with the worsts HPFPs
Yes, it was about time to changing my HPFP. I'm not the first, neither the last one. But I feel like an idiot after paying 78.000 Euros for a car that is equipped with such crappy components such as HPFPs, LPFPs, injectors and coils (3 changed). And there is no recall campaign for us living in Europe.
I could understand if it was only my car which is FBO + meth with 400+ whp but is is 9 out of 10 cars with the same problem. This is what happened to my car today. After a few hours and 500 Euros less everything was fixed.

2 Things:
Yea, it sucks that BMW hasn't issued a recall on European HPFP's. But like any other performance engine, nothing ever runs smoothly 100% of the time -- This goes for the N54, the S54, the S65, etc etc (and these are just BMW performance engines). If you wanted an engine that will never break, you should've bought a Honda Civic. |

As said before, BMW is supposed to be a premium and luxury brand and you get what you pay for. I'm a mechanical engineer and I know that when R&D is involved on a part (ie HPFP) then many things can go wrong. But there is no recall for that and I feel BMW people are taking advantage over us paying for a mechanical part that fails all the time.
Ignition coils are not routine maintance parts. Brakes, clutches, tires are maintenance parts but not ignition coils. It's like saying that DME is a maintenance part lol I just it is ridiculous paying a serious amount of money for this car to have symptoms like dying HPFPs. As for the Honda comment, sorry but I feel like convincing someone who drags his 335i to sell it and get an EVO (4 wheel drive, less weight, potential of extended engine tuning). After stopping the video, the system built up enough gas pressure and I made it to the workshop for the replacement.

My ignition coils just got replaced with spark plugs by the BMW Dealer for the scheduled maintenance, so it's not a "lifetime" part like the fluid in your trans |

Mine were done as part of the package (no charge to me) -- They even replaced the batteries on both of my CA keys

I don't know that I'd say it's rare. I'm on my 3rd SET and have already replaced one to begin the 4th SET(pretty sure I need to replace more, but haven't been able to isolate which ones). This is with only 56k miles.

Wonderfull cars. 3 hpfp in 36 k miles, 1 fp sensor, 3 window regulators in driver door. Still randomly has long starts. It sucks when you have more fuel pump changes than oil changes.

Yea it def sucks your having to deal with HPFP issues in Europe when in the U.S., that is a standard recall. Coilpacks depend more on the advisor I think rather than the dealership so make good friends with your advisor and I promise it will pay off. Atleast get you a discount or have BMW split the cost with you. I can understand your frustration but you pick your own poison. I would WAY rather have a 335 any day over an Evo LMAO. Come on man lol your comparing apples to oranges... more like Lions to monkeys haha

^^^^ LOL
I didn't know that ignition coils are consumables and need to be replaced. The changing interval is 40-50k miles --> 65-70k km. I changed mine at 5000, 12000 and 17000 and the spark plugs every 10-12k km as soon I get misfires on cold engine start up. No leaky injectors for the time (6/09 production).

You might be able to get the HPFP/LPFP for free in the EU.... just complain and explain your point of view with respect... they are premium and do not like bad marketing....
they will book it on customer satisfaction or something like that.

I've already done that, thanks. I've also sent them a complaint about my rear turbo which burns some oil. You never know...
