Found one - but asking price is too high. You're correct, ECS has them for $233

Still looking for a leetle longer b4 I buy from ECS...

Been looking as well. Seems that very few do this upgrade and once they do they never change back even when they sell or trade in. When one does come up for sale the price is too close to retail to bother with.

The leatherette armrest from ECS seem affordable, big price difference from the Dakota. $153.00 is not bad.

Picked up a lightly used novillo black one from an M3 at a great price few weeks ago.

Guess I got lucky, but I think you can find one if you monitor eBay.

Leatherette Armrest

The leatherette is a great option for anyone looking to save a buck and still have a great looking split arm rest. When the black and gray came in I checked them out in our photo room, they look and feel great. Not as striking as the Dakota Korall Red Leather but then again there's no reason to grab that color unless it's going to match the rest of your interior.

How does the black look against the black Dakota? Close enough or not really?

'Not Really' would be the definite answer

BMW's fake leather needs a lot of work - consistency & feel is like rubber, hard to clean, and the grain (if you want to call it that) doesn't even come close to matching the real leather grains available. Vinyl material would have come much closer.

M Benz does a great job with their fake leather out of many of the cars I have test driven...
