Cheapest insurance company?
Warning, first part of this thread is a rant!!
So I'm super pissed off!!! I got a stupid speeding ticket (17 miles over) in Jersey City a few months back, got a lawyer and got it reduced to "Unsafe operations" (which is the lowest moving violation with no points)... paid the hefty fine for the courts and the lawyer costs - all this in the hopes that my insurance would only go up just a little bit (if any) since I still have no points on my record, and I've been driving for 12 years with a clean record. I get my renewal letter from Geico and my premium went up by THIRTY PERCENT because of the violation (that's over $600 a year)!! I called them up and asked why, and they said that the insurance companies have a different point system than the DMV. In the insurance point system, a speeding ticket is only 1 point, but an unsafe operation ticket is 4 points!!!!!!! So it would've been MUCH cheaper for me to have stayed with my initial speeding ticket. Anyways, that's the end of the rant. Here's where i need your help, anyone know a good NJ insurance broker that i could speak to to get me the cheapest insurance rate? I called up esurnace and a few more, but the quotes are not competitive. Please let me know, thanks all. |

Wow that's some bull****. I always knew all these Geico commercials were full of crap. I heard some shady stuff about them too.
For what it's worth, I was in a similar situation..got an H.O.V Lane ticket ($120 IIRC and 2pts) so I got it reduced to unsafe driving ($330 and 0 points.) and don't recall my insurance going up at all after that...I have Allstate

Have been with them for the last 12y and they are awesome. After 3y you get first accident forgiveness. I had at least 10 speeding tickets and they never increased my rates. As long as you are not causing accidents it seems they don't care. Geico is notorious about risk mgmt and the smallest issue will trigger rate hikes. Erie is always rated one of the best. |

all car insurance companies are the "chips of the same block".
for premium, ive noticed it actually matters if you personally visit an Agent. and agent (no matter what insurance company) can fix a lot of things. so my suggestion would be, visit couple of insurance agents and get quotes. goods luck. |
