Mounting a Custom Euro plate in the front

Was wondering....I did ED and so there are holes in the front bumper for the US plate mount....I want the plate to look as clean as possible without a bracket that makes it look bulky...
should I..
a) mount a custom euro plate with waterproof double sided tape only?
b) mount with double sided tape and drill holes into the plate that match up with the holes in the bumper from the US plate mount.
c) just get a Euro plate bracket and do it that way...

a few other questions
what kind of double sided tape is the best?
should I manually curve the plate to fit the curve of the bumper?

thanks in advance

I don't know if this addresses your question, but here's a close-up of how my 'official' Euro plate is fitted to the front bumper: no mount, just two rivets with color-coded plastic caps to tidy things up. The perspex plate was simply held in place by the BMW technician while he drilled and rivetted.

If you use the double sided tape you have make sure both the bumper AND the plate are absolutely clean. Otherwise the tape will loosen over time as the plate tries to straighten out from the curve and it will look hideous. Using the tape and the screws method will probably also loosen on the ends but the plate won't simply fall off while bookin' down the road. It will look bad, especially if only one side pops free. If you can curve the plate then that would help eliminate the ends coming loose.

The euro plate bracket being flat will not curve around the nose if you just use the two holes from the US mount. You'll need to put two more holes further towards the end. I got the M-sport plate frame but this didn't cover the US holes so I had them filled and the nose resprayed. But then the plate frame was screwed to the bumper. The actual plate is attached with a product called No More Nails exterior tape (like I'd nail the plate to the bumper ) and gives a very clean look. You can see it (sorta) in my garage. No visible screws or screwcaps and it's been on for a year.

Further to that...I took Euro Delivery of my 335 and have the front German Zoll tourist plate and have been looking for a proper frame. Does anyone have a source as the Zoll plate is shorter (18" v. 21") than the standard EEC plate.

Thanks!

Jason

I'd say drill the holes in the plate to match the US holes and then double side tape it so that the sides stay down. This way you won't be worried about it falling off. Good idea.

I got Long to paint the black US plate holder body color and then put it back on as it was in Europe. Sure its not as clean as with the double sided tape but I have clear-bra so I didn't want to stick it to the clear-bra because eventually I'll get the no front plate ticket living here in CA.

There is a pic in my garage.

Here is what I did with mine......

-Got my Euro Plate re-made in full size.
-Used the bracket that I picked up while I was in Munich
-Used the existing holes......

Very happy with the results...... not to mention the new Zoll plates are 21" any way......
