Scan tool needed to Bleed brakes ??
I'm looking to do a brake fluid change on my 2006 E90 xi, while reading the procedure on brake bleeding the system from the Bentley manual, it states that it requires the use of a BMW scan tool or equivalent( what is the equivalent) and to connect to the OBD ll plug.
Since this is the first time "I" will be doing the brake flush/bleeding I was a little concerned if I can do it ,since I don't have a "scan tool". Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to change out all the fluid, you need a GT1 or possibly coding to activate the pump to clear out all the fluid.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I asked my local Indy about this and he said done even bother unless you are having brake problems. It isn't worth the hassle and takes 2 people even with gt1. I have 142000 miles on my 330xi
