'06 330xi 6spd gear shift linkage broken

While on my honeymoon (of all the times this could've happened), when I tried shifting in to reverse, the shifter popped out and would not engage any gear. When I popped up the shift boot to see this:

It looks like a white plastic piece (bushing?) snapped inside where the shifter meets the selector rod to the transmission. I managed to push it back in to place and limp it back to where we were staying. After some more investigation, I just zapstrap'd it so it'd hold up until I got home.

Looking at Realoem, the part to hold it in place would be 25117571899, but I'm not sure about what was actually in the shifter, any plastic pieces ended up falling out.

Does anyone know what's inside of the shifter and if it's a part I'd be able to replace without replacing the whole shifter?

Did the shift level pop out too? Or is it still secure and pivots correctly but is disconnected from the selector rod?

Nvm I just read you say something about a white plastic, the only white plastic is the bearing it is part number 9 in the diagram u posted easy to replace easy to brake if u did some hard shifting in the past

But In the picture it seems like you might have popped off the securing clip (part 13 in diagram) so another one of those,

IMO this would be the perfect time to do the BMW performance short shift mod,

All you need for the mod is new bearing(which you need anyway if you saw broken plastic pieces)

BMW performance short shift lever for 330i

And new circlip(which you need anyway)

Total cost should be less than $100
