My gf got hit caught speeding but her ticket was reduced to 39:4-97.2 Unsafe Driving. She went to court in Woodbridge, NJ and told the judge and prosecutor that this was her second offense within 5 years. She then was told that she will have to pay a higher fine but would not get any points unless she gets a third offense. Well low and behold DMV slaps her with 4 points, we call Trenton and the moron there says that you get points on your second offense. Yet everyone I know, including cops, are saying it's the second offense. And every where online it says this, 39:4-97.2 Unsafe Driving, operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe manner, offense created; fines., 4 points on third offense. So who's right?

Whoever told you in Trenton that you get points on your second offense is a moron, your allowed to use 2 unsafe driving tickets per every 5 years, anymore than that you get points. Idk what's going on as to why they're doing this. Good luck

Thanks.. That's pretty much what everyone I talked to said, the people at DMV in trenton are complete idiots.
