2006 330i Headlight Problem

Recently had to replace one of the Xenon bulbs for the passenger headlight but shortly after replacing, the light went out again. The shop I took it to warned that many times it is not the headlight but rather the controller for the light that needs to be replaced. Based on the new light going out only after a week, should I just replace the controller? If so they run around $400 from what I have seen, is there a better place to buy one for less?

Thanks!
