Do I have a telematics issue?

Hi All,

With my e92, 2009 330D highline just about to go out of BMW warranty, I am experiencing some intermittent issues with the BMW online services. I have the Professional Navigation system with the HD, that's the one you can't upgrade maps for the sat nav without paying BMW circa £400.

I have suffered almost daily outages on the BMW services option, the one where you can connect online via the car and get google local searches, news, sports results etc. When selecting the option I have encountered a high number of issues of "Searching for Network Signal. Please try later."

I called the online services hotline and they can see no problem with my account or the service as far as they can see.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Has there been network problems or do I have a problem. I don't need to use the system that often but when I do I expect it to work and now that I am going out of warranty I want to make sure that all is ok with the car.

Its ok at present, or at least it was the last time I logged in.

I did have issues with mine.

Didn't get any signal for 90% of the time.

Dealer renewed the telematics unit under warranty and its been fine since.

You know there is an annual charge for the service which will probably expire when the warranty goes?? Possibly £120 per year???

You can upgrade the HD Nav - you don't have to go through a $tealer. There's a recent thread on here about it. Cost around £70 total, plus a bit of CD swapping by yourself.

Are you sure about that, as when I bought my car it was a year old and so i got the service for 2 further years. If the car has never been registered for the service then you have 3 years as i thought it was 3 years from first registering for the service.
