08 335xi: Paddle shifting works, +/- on gearshift doesn't

My car has an automatic transmission with the silly paddle shifters and the slightly less silly manual selector on the gearshift controller.

I noticed yesterday that my paddle shifters work to change gears but the +/- on the center gearshift controller do not while in DS.

BMW just cleaned the transmission and replaced a cracked transmission oil pan a few weeks ago. Does anyone know of a cable they might have dislodged which would cause one set of controls to work but not another?

Thanks.

The paddles are working fine. It's moving the gearshift forwards and backward (+/-) while in DS that's not working like it used to.

Happened to a friend of mine not too long ago.
Check for a broken wire in the shifter assembly.

I did Believe, me I only post here as a last resort.

Do you know if this wire is typically disconnected at the transmission or at the stick? In one case, I have a chance at getting the dealer to fix it for free. For the other, it's $200 for them to tell me it's another $300.

lift up the shifter and you'll see if your connector needs to be replaced
