330xi Replacing tires on rear axle, front rear axle tires air pressure difference

So some idiot dropped a board with nails pointing up on the road.
I of course ran over it.

I have tires (tire rack) that are about a year old and decent thread left. The rear passenger tire was plugged, but won't hold air anymore.

Even though i have the awd,
I am thinking replacing the rear axle tires with the same tires is all I need to do.
Since BMW recommends more air pressure in the rears anyway I imagine this will do no harm.

I'm too chicken to just change the one tire... Afraid of putting too much stress on differentials.

Thoughts?

If the difference in tread depths is a concern, you could have a new tire shaved down to a particular tread depth to match the other tires.

That's true. How does one trim the tire? Does every shop do it?

I wouldn't guess that every shop does it. Those that specialize in race tires and some larger mail order companies like us are more likely to have a tire shaving service.
