Same here, Paul.

I don't think I've done it properly though, since they recommend multiple applications, because the abrasives break down on rubbing, leaving a clear gloss finish. So, I might give it another go on a small mark on the passenger side- funny- no one else can see it, except me!

More info here.

I reckon that scratch will be a thing of the past shortly.
My dad was from a little village called Thorncombe in Dorset.

He used to barrel round the country lanes at full tilt and defended it to my Mum with the argument that he knew all the locals and was pretty sure who else would be on the road at the same time as he was.

Are our cars particularly prone to this, or is it all cars? I was forced off the side of the road by an idiot in a 4x4 pick-up the other day and lightly brushed a hedge. I have a small scratch about 30 cm long on my nearside wing now!

I think the clear coat is particularly soft ... at least on my car.

I also have very fine scratches behind the door handles - just because my finger nails have brushed against the paintwork when opening the door.

(and before anyone else says it perhaps I shouldn't have had extensions done at the nail bar - ho ho ho).

When I first moved down I just assumed they had a deathwish.

Having tried it myself and come round a corner to meet a large beefy animal coming toward me up the lane - I now moderate my speed ...

As regards our cars being prone to scratches - yeah the clearcote lacquer does seem very soft.

I put my thumbnail accidently in to the front valance... have subsequently given the car two coats of collinite 915 and let it harden like buggery between coats.... seems a lot more durable now.

You can always spot the locals because they know:

1. How wide the road is.

2. How wide their car is.

Which means that they tend not to slow down unless they have to.

The tourists are the ones that brake when any car comes toward them .... 'just in case'.

(or as I did throw themselves into a hedge by mistake).

LOL - I would take a little issue there...many is the time that I had my X5 drivers door mirror explode in to a million pieces by a local who knew the width of their car and wasn't stopping....

I just wish the folding mechanism would have worked a little quicker....frantic jabbing at the button while braking to a slow enough speed to allow it to be folded in just didn't work quickly enough...

Nor did shouting "No.... not again....it's just been replaced and sprayed...you won't make it you doughnut " at the windscreen.

IMHO that's not strictly true, at this time of year I suffer with being driven off the road by farm plant. Usually driven by seasonally casual workers that don't realise that a Combine Harvester/Tractor is actually larger than a van ! Was nearly put in a hedge this morning by a Volvo as well, but then he's under the misapprehension that he's driving a fooking tank !

i once saw a twat driving a massive farm thing once thru my old village, thru the tightest spot in the village (most probably the gayest part of the village too) where most cars stop and creep by but thus guy was raring thru, the chap in a average sized car coming towards him, stoped in the hedge to give the farm thing as much room as possible the ''farm thing''

didnt even slow up and smashed the back door and back window hitting it and drove off

i was so furious... even more so when i learnt a 1 month baby was in the back on that side!!!

luckily the little baby wasnt killed or cut by the glass, but the door which was inches from where the baby was in its cot thing was mashed!!!

the farmer came down and apologized and said the chap driving was 16 and didnt have a license or insurance so the farmer said he will pretend he was driving

i went mad and i was just a witness

the chap whose baby almost got totalled along with his car was pretty stunned and calm

Depends if it's genetically modified or not.
If 'eau naturale' then the wheel is on the right-hand side otherwise if it's GM, then the wheel is on wrong (aka left-hand) side

Whenever I see those 'caution heavy plant crossing' signs I imagine they are talking about triffids.
