Exclamation Car not boosting???

My car will not boost at all. I can hear the turbos spool up. I had a wreck last night and Im hoping that the hose is off my intercooler. Do you guys think that a leak would cause that. The car temps are fine and no leaks. I just hope the turbos didnt get damaged.

if you hear spool but don't get boost that means there is a leak...

If you have a CEL with an under boost code you likely have a leak. It's probably easier just to look around yourself as we can't see your car from here.

Looking at the pics in your post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=747160

Either the cold side IC piping is damaged or got knocked loose. Doesn't look like the damage to the front is extensive enough to reach the IC, but there could be damage to the IC. Are you throwing any codes?

I would definitely leave everything as is until your insurance has a chance to look at it. If you have to drive it take it easy or put you JB4 in NA mode.

Yes it will still work, it's just damaged a bit so won't work as efficiently. Is that the VRSF cooler you just got?

For sure! Looks like only a small part of the bottom fins were damaged. Obviously it isn't the best thing in the world, but I know a guy that had a stock intercooler that looked like that and he had no issues at all. IAT's were the same too.

He should really inspect all welds for cracks and make sure there are no creases/cracks in the tubes. If there is any damage where boost can escape to atmosphere then the IC will be worthless.

This is true, but wouldn't that apply to the ends of the FMIC only? Curious.

It would apply to the ends of the FMIC for the welds but just becasue only the middle is bent doesn't mean there wasn't enough stress exerted on the welds to crack them. It's unlikely, but worth looking at.

Also unlikely that anything punctured, creased, or cracked the AL of the tube but, again, it's worth looking at.

With the front bumper off, it's better to look now than wait till the car is all buttoned back up.

Agree. You know it was damaged. Now you need to take a close look and see how badly it was damaged.
