If you're going out of pocket on this, why don't you just upgrade to RB's? It won't be much more and you'll have a much more powerful set-up!

I would guess Rob Beck could handle a stock turbo rebuild if needed...

Unless your taking them out yourself your looking at about 1k in labor to remove and reinstall the turbos.
At that point you should consider upgrading them in one way other another. |

Woot! Thanks Schung and type rrr for the helpful links!
So what's the verdict? What are you going with? Anyone else successfully rebuilt, or had their indie rebuild their turbos? I considered RB... but I'm sporting the 535, and on their website looks like 335/135 only (on order form, I know description mentions 535)... I did call them a year ago or so to confirm that there wasn't a 535 version available... I think fitment might be slightly different? I've currently got my car on the lift, getting diagnosed for oil leak before doing PWM meth, cat-back exhaust and suspension... looking like turbos are main culprit by evidence of oil build-up on the intake valves. So....... could chance it with RB's on a 5'er, or just go for a rebuild while doing all of the connecting seal and gaskets (http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E60-535...mpaign=newpost) I've read if theres been metal-on-metal contact you need to replace the turbo, but even then stock replacement now is just $595 after $100 core... still not too bad.

Welp... Bob at BAE has told me there is some issue with the main bearing in the TD03 kits he creates. I'm bummed. He said possibly two weeks he'd have an updated bearing.
So Monday I'll be calling the other kit vendors listed earlier in the thread. My poor baby has the turbos out now, one taken apart, the other waiting.

You can't just rebuild a turbo yourself. You have to make sure the shaft is aligned properly, within spec. Most backyard mechanics do not have the technology to balance the shafts, limiting the life of your rebuild.
